Biography

Ilyass Britel is a doctoral candidate in biotechnology and agri-food sciences with a multidisciplinary profile spanning food biochemistry, food science and technology, molecular biology, and circular bioeconomy. Trained as an agro-industrial engineer, he has built a solid foundation bridging fundamental sciences and applied food systems. His doctoral research focuses on the physicochemical and rheological characterization of complex food matrices, the molecular and biotechnological aspects of ingredient functionality, and the nutritional and health implications of reformulated food products. He is particularly interested in the valorization of agri-food by-products and agricultural biomasses through innovative biotechnological approaches, with the aim of developing functional ingredients contributing to more sustainable food systems. His work further extends to the interface of food, nutrition, and human health, with a focus on bioactive compounds, their biological activities, and their potential roles in the prevention of diet-related and chronic diseases. He also integrates bioeconomic modeling and circular economy frameworks to optimize agri-food value chains, minimize resource losses, and support the transition toward sustainable production models. Complementing his research, he is actively involved in university teaching across life sciences disciplines. Through an interdisciplinary approach combining food technology, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and sustainability sciences, he aims to contribute to the development of innovative, health-oriented, and environmentally adapted agri-food solutions.
